Gov. Bredesen Signs SB1141/HB670 adding a greater deficit to the State of Tennessee budget
SB 1141/ HB 670 requires that every jailer in the state inspect the immigration documents of every person detained, with no specialized training, funding, oversight, or access to federal immigration databases.
The State of Tennessee will have an estimated deficit of 1 1/2 billion dollars in 2011; http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=711
It is irresponsible for Governor Bredesen to continue to believe that incarceration of immigrants and US Citizens is fiscally possible. The next governor will have to deal with the mess that Bredesen has left behind.
