"One resource for Christians in Nashville concerning their position on the English-only amendment seems to be the story of the Tower of Babel in the 10th and 11th chapters of Genesis.
Though many claim the story as a biblical justification for English-only, a closer reading of the narrative suggests something different. Babel is not a declaration that diversity in language is a punishment for thinking ourselves as important as God.
