RE: Where things stand

First of all, thank you for all of your hard work over the past few weeks. It has been amazing to watch the energy and passion of this coalition come together in a unified effort to defeat the two amendments that will be on the ballot Jan. 22. We have accomplished more in the first twelve days of 2009 than most campaigns accomplish in 120 days. But the real work of this effort – getting our voters to the polls – is still ahead of us.

While everyone is working around the clock to defeat this amendment, we still have 10 days to go, and an uphill battle ahead of us. Like I’ve mentioned before, we’re running against an opponent with deep pockets. Simply put, we need more resources. Please click here to donate to the campaign; http://www.nashvilleforallofus.org/Contribute.html. If you don’t have the means to donate financially, visit the Web site, www.nashvilleforallofus.org, for additional ways to support our efforts.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what we’ve accomplished just in the past week:

We opened a new campaign headquarters at 1814 Church Street. Volunteers showed up before we even had furniture and are there every night and day getting the word out.
Our television ad has begun running on local television. We also have a number of spots up on YouTube and you can check them out here; http://www.youtube.com/NashvilleforAllofUs

Faith Leaders for All of Us held a breakfast and follow-up news conference Thursday at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, where more than 240 clergy leaders released a joint statement against English Only.
The coalition has grown to hundreds of groups, churches and organizations raising growing concerns about the negative impact this amendment will have on the city’s economic development efforts. The media has continued to uncover the negative consequences of English Only:

Thanks again for all you are doing to help the cause. If we keep working hard, we can defeat this effort. Please remind everyone you know to go and vote against Amendment One and Amendment Two.

Thank you.
