Meet with Your Legislators in Your Home District This Week!

Next week, on March 2, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a markup on comprehensive immigration reform. It is critical that we reach our Senators now to educate them about the need for a realistic solution that provides a path to permanent legal status for the 11 million people living in this country without proper documentation. View AILA's position paper on comprehensive immigration reform.
AILA and I challenge you to take at least two of the three steps below to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform this week:

Use Contact Congress to send a letter to your Senators urging them to support realistic, comprehensive reform (you will have a chance to enter your zip code and send a targeted letter if your Senator is a member of the Judiciary Committee; otherwise, you can send a general letter. Go to www.aila.org, click on Contact Congress

Call your Senators' district offices and make an appointment to meet with your Senators or their key staffers while they are in their home districts this week

It is especially important that we reach members of the Judiciary Committee. This is the debate we've all been waiting for. Do your Senators know where you stand? Take action today!
